The Minnesota project resulted in a soft and inviting kitchen with traditional tones and textures. This Modern Kitchen draws its charm from the expert arrangement and detailing of upmarket materials and items.

The use of Oiled Oak Prime Melamine from Prime Panels provides a hard-wearing timber feel on the lower cabinetry. Coloured in durable Resene Half Seafog Satin two-pot lacquer, the Dezignatek Castilla panels, interspersed with a hybrid of Castilla and Levante panels, progress the traditional theme as frontage for the higher cabinets. The cabinets themselves are framed with wall skirting and faux bulkheads. The same Dezignatek panels also feature on the back-side of the kitchen peninsula. The handles of choice are Rio Matt Black from Archant.

As a substantial splashback and extensive wall feature, Chateau Fleur Beige sheet tiles from Tile Trends lend their charming Moroccan patterns and ceramic practicality. For washing up, an Acquello white double fireclay sink with racks was sourced from In Residence, while an eminently-traditional Perrin & Rowe Phoenecian mixer boasts three porcelain-clad handles: hot, cold and filtered.

Made in Britain, the generous Belling Richmond Deluxe Induction Range Cooker would be the envy of most home chefs. Above, an Italian designed and made, one-metre-wide Sirius integrated rangehood is a fine match. Nearby, warm, tonal under-cabinet LED lighting illuminates the sturdy 30mm-thick Pacific Stone Calacatta Gold Light Engineered Stone benchtops. These benchtops are employed consistently throughout the kitchen and walk-in pantry.

Modern Kitchens’ expertise with the design and creation of custom cabinetry is illustrated in a number of ways in the Minnesota project. In addition to all the cabinetry mentioned thus far, a minimal-width bookshelf next to the fridge and another triangular nook shelf in the pantry each maximise utilised space.
